Card of the Day – 5 of Cups

5 of cups-editThis card is the energy of the outer and the trans-personal planet Pluto in the constellation of Scorpio. Pluto is the higher octave of Mars and as such takes the directive and assertive energy of Mars into a much deeper level. Pluto is the last of the trans-personal planet being furthest from the sun and while it knows how to create and recreate. It also loves to destroy. The traditional name for this card is Lost and Pleasure more recently called disappointment. The astrological aspect of disappointment is this deep, deep generational energy of Pluto in the constellation Scorpio.

When you draw this card, it is an invitation to look to see how you are drawing yourself into disappointment. There are two full glasses standing right behind you. You cannot notice them if you are constantly paying attention to your past. Your hair is a record of your experience, your past. If you continue to go over the experiences of the past, of your disappointments, you can’t see what is within your present. It It can feel like you are in a dungeon, and it’s a dungeon that is self created.

The astrological aspects of this card are Pluto in Scorpio. Pluto is the higher octave of Mars, so it’s doing its Plutonian job of  regeneration and rebirth by tearing down the old for an entire generation. This is about the way we all allow our memories of past disappointments clutter our lives. Sitting in that and allowing it to transform is more effective than denial, and is, in fact, the only way that the energy of disappointment can be reborn.
