Card of the Day: 3 of Wands

3 of wandsAgainst a red sky, a man stands between two staves. He holds a third large pole or wand, either setting it down gently, or picking it up. The man seems enormous. If he stood up tall, his head would extend out of the frame of the card. A container ship, filled with multicolored containers plows across the ocean from right to left.

Traditionally this has been the card of Established Strength, with the direct and directive Sun in in ambitious, enthusiastic Aires. Even though a container ship is large, it can still suffer damage and loss of fortune should a storm overtake it. Therefore, the ship passes under the watchful eye of the larger-than-life man in the middle ground. The modern interior in the foreground of the card indicates quiet, real strength, not showy.

When you draw this card, it can indicate that the investment you make in any area of your life, physical, mental, spiritual, or emotional has the potential of coming to fruition if you are willing to watch over it and nurture it a little.
